(Best listened to in HD)
Brought to attention by a user in the SDR chatroom at 2315z. The marching music has taken over the 40m amateur band claiming at least 10 frequencies.
Supposedly is transmitted by protestors in Ukraine or transmitted in honour of the protestors in Ukraine. Through further digging it might not be the case. Real purpose and location are unkown. Probably a clever pirate.

Some observations: * It sounds like a bugle call, but more like an oboe. That may be an artefact of the recording or the weak/low fidelity nature of the transmission. * It's in minor key, only on three notes. I conjecture this is odd for a bugle call (which are normally in major key). * Nothing obvious comes up on a musipedia.org contour search (but it's been fairly unreliable recently). * Time signature is compound time (3/8 or 6/8). * Key possibly D# minor (or enh. equivalent Eb minor). (notes are D#, G#, B). So Aldebaran on the utwente SDR has "proven it" and claimed responsibility. I have a recording of this (raw recording infotomb.com/agcb6/f12afc5810a1be37d0caebfd3fe0ae0218b1a37ec5663e7a1a9021f8ae9a1eb9 ). I still don't know where the tune is from, though!

I was just about to mention that. Thanks Ry!
The pirate claims music is "Melody of Cossack folklore"

It's back on the 40m band, 13 frequencies this time. It could be from the protesters, but it also could be the Ukrainian government jamming the entire band, nobody knows.

It's not from Ukraine. It's a pirate in the Netherlands doing it. Foo checked other receivers and it's only audible in Holland and weakly in Belguim.

when it was first noticed on Twente a few days ago a user claimed to check via Hong Kong remote & said the signal was much stronger there. He also seemed to be pretty sure that it was some sort of Asian jammer (he specifically cited Vietnam which is to silly to even comment on). I checked via several other remote receivers in Asia at the same time & found the signal to be non-existent there. I knew it was coming from Europe as the 40 meter band would not likely propagate that well at the time we heard it.

Wonder why they claim it is from Ukraine when it's easy to prove otherwise.

Yeah. I was looking up the title while writing something on it for the site. It's only the first few notes of it, looped over and over.
